Exposed tooth necks

Widespread but respond well to treatment

Exposed tooth necks are not only a consequence of advanced periodontal disorders, but often also of excessive and forceful brushing, frequently further compounded by the wrong brushing technique or toothbrushes. Exposed tooth necks not only look unattractive, but are usually also very sensitive and, as the enamel is missing, much more vulnerable to caries. The extent to which such recessions can be covered again depends on a large number of parameters. You can’t make a blanket statement that this is always feasible. However, most can be well treated or covered using the soft tissue surgical techniques already outlined above.

Unfortunately, the costs of augmentative procedures and gingival reconstructive plastic surgery are not covered by statutory health insurance and must therefore be paid privately by patients.
